Comensura delivers social impact boosting cadet career skills development for Army Cadets

In July 2025, the IM Military team were pleased to participate in the Cornwall Army Cadet Force Annual Camp at Longmoor Camp. As part of our ongoing commitment to youth development and Armed Forces community engagement, we delivered a dedicated session aimed at equipping young cadets with vital employability skills—setting the stage for their future professional journeys. 

IM Military are Impellam’s employee-led Business Resource Group for veterans and reservists dedicated towards providing greater opportunities for those who served in defence sector and support for them and their families. 

The team, including Head of Service Andrew Banfield, Delivery Consultant Demi Saunders and Recruitment Business Partner Caiti Martignetti delivered a structured, interactive session focused on interview preparation and CV awareness, designed to be both informative and practical. Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, cadets learned how to present themselves effectively on paper and in person. 

We also carried out a series of mock job interviews with over 50 cadets, aged 15 to 17. Each participant chose a fictitious job role—ranging from Police Officer and Research Assistant to Retail Manager, IT Technician, and Paramedic—providing a broad spectrum of experiences. Team members played the role of interviewers, simulating real-world scenarios, asking probing questions, and offering constructive feedback. The aim was not just to evaluate but to generate confidence and refine communication skills. 

The cadets impressed everyone with their maturity, preparedness, and enthusiasm. Their thoughtful responses and professionalism were a testament to the impact that early career guidance can have.  

The day further reinforced the social impact of mentorship and practical skill-building. Positive feedback from cadet leaders and participants highlighted increased confidence in future career planning.  

Looking ahead, we’re excited to create more community engagement with youth-focused events, looking to be a part of empowering the next generation of leaders and generating genuine social impact.
